Khan Younis - The 'Suqour Fatah', a minor military wing of Fatah, have threatened to boycott the Al Jazeera satellite channel and its workers due to "continuous abuse" of the Fatah movement and the Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas.
In a statement issued Thursday, the 'Suqour' said that they will take steps against the channel's correspondents and offices.
The statement added that: "In accordance with what we are watching on Al Jazeera, and the way it covers the events, we have found that this channel is launching a war on the Fatah movement and our political leadership. This war was intensified since the appointment of Wadah Khanfar as director-general of the Al Jazeera network."
The group accused the channel of not being impartial in its coverage and of turning into a biased, paid channel whose platform is based on broadcasting turmoil, inciting defamation and accusations of collaboration against Fatah's historical leaders.
The statement also accused the channel of not covering Fatah activities in order to satisfy some political factions who have paid money to the channel.
The statement added that the Fatah movement will boycott Al Jazeera and its local and international reporters, and will prevent it from covering any Fatah activity or conference.
The statement came two days after a program on Al Jazeera was broadcast in which, according to Fatah members, one of the guests attacked the Fatah movement.
The statement also highly praised the role of other channels and agencies, without mentioning any names, which follow a policy of impartiality in covering the news.
